Arizona's Big A Hole

So we left Las Vegas and headed back into Arizona to do what a lot of newly weds do, visit the Grand Canyon! It's cliche but worth it.

The Grand Canyon, has 277 miles of river, is up to 18 miles wide and a mile deep. While it can not all be seen in one day.. but one day is what we have so we made the most of it. We drove up to the South Rim to soak up the amazing and constantly changing view.

It is so beautiful  hat it looks like a painting.

Again, selfie stick dominated the major areas for tourist. but we found a few quiet off the beaten path stops to enjoy the view in peace.  PSA: More people have died from selfies than shark attacks including a couple falling off a cliff.  Be careful out there.

The ride through Arizona is beautiful. There is a great route through Sedona to Jerome with lots of curves and switchbacks. Highly recommended.

Our next stop is a winery in Jerome, Arizona. Yeah that's right, wine in Arizona but this one is special for a couple of reasons. First off it is high altitude wine in a very dry cool environment that grapes love. Second, because it is owned by the great Maynard James Keenan, lead singer of Tool, Perfect Circle and Pucifer. If you want to learn about wine and be entertained we recommend you watch the documentary  Blood Into Wine about Merkin Vineyards and Caduceus Cellars.

Jerome is a peculiar place.

Two flights please!

Merkin Vineyard and Caduceus Cellars tasting room.

Mr, Keenan in a grape bath because he's a rock star.

Cheers!
