Breaking Albuquerque

So Carmen and I drove around New Mexico and explored the desert and countryside before heading into Albuquerque to see the sites.

Big Red Arrow landmark

We had an idea of what the city was like from watching one of our favorite shows, Breaking Bad.

If you are familiar with the show, then you will appreciate the photos to come. If not, here is a brief synopsis.

It tells the story of Walter White (Bryan Cranston), a struggling high school chemistry teacher diagnosed with inoperable lung cancer, who, together with his former student Jesse Pinkman (Aaron Paul), turns to a life of crime, producing and selling crystallized methamphetamine to secure his family's financial future before he dies. The title is from a Southern colloquialism meaning to "raise hell". Breaking Bad is set and was filmed in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

The Canadian version of the show was only one episode.

Here are some photos of scene locations. See if you can recognize them from the show.

So do you like the pipe?

Chicken Brothers

And of course.. my favorite.

This is not meth.
From one of my favorite scenes of the entire series.

Behold my mighty Photoshop Powers!

Insert dramatic pause here.

So  I noticed that New Mexico has an architectural style that is very particular to this state, I am going to call it 'mud buildings' for the sake of argument.

Observe.

This was a Mall

Aside from that... The landscape here is beautiful.. We can see for miles and miles. Storms long before they reach you.
These are actually Three different storm formations in the distance.

Managed to miss this storm somehow

I even like the little art that they put on overpasses and public works.

We took a rest break under an overpass for a bit.

Finally, here are some more photos that don't quite fit anywhere..
Questions?

The guy who put the UFO stickers on the Cow signs was pretty dedicated in his cause.

Add "Good, Bad, Ugly" whistle here.

Reflections

After NM we headed up into Colorado for a BMW Sponsored off-road motorcycle class.
Photos and commentary to follow in a few days after I catch my breath.
